A few highlights...
-
Designated by Congress as America's official museum about World War II, this museum is rated by TripAdvisor as the #1 attraction in New Orleans, the #4 museum in the U.S. and the #11 museum in the world. Photo courtesy of National WWII Museum.

For the best self-guided tour of New Orleans, pay $3 for a day pass on the St. Charles streetcar (four blocks from the hotel) and ride it out to the Garden District and Uptown, past cemeteries, the Audubon Park and Zoo, and Tulane and Loyola universities. Look for car #952 to ride on one of the original streetcars named Desire.
-
If you bring someone who can wait in line, tickets are free, or you can spring for “Big Shot” seats online. An amazing, intimate venue for traditional New Orleans Jazz.
-
Check out the art galleries of the Arts District, or the sidewalk galleries around Jackson Square.

And for the love of all that is good and holy, get out to some of New Orleans’ amazing restaurants. Cajun and Creole are de rigueur, but there are options for every diet and cuisine. Book early if you want a table at one of NOLA’s hottest new restaurants, Shaya, serving modern Israeli cuisine.

On the far side of the French Quarter (a short cab or Uber ride away) are the famed jazz clubs of Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg-Marigny neighborhood—Snug Harbor, d.b.a., Blue Nile, The Spotted Cat, and more.
